JULY 2008 CHAPTER UPDATE

Greetings everyone!!    I hope your summer is going well so far.

I would like to make you aware of several items:

  • Please make plans to attend the July 10th meeting at Magnolia Manor. We will have a very special guest coming to speak to us; Ms. Teena Shouse is the immediate past Chair of IFMA’s Board of Directors. Tina brings a wealth of knowledge about IFMA as well as the facility management industry.     This is a chance to hear directly from someone that has served at the highest levels in IFMA. Tina will speak on a variety of topics as well as install the new chapter officers for next year.

  • The July 10  meeting will  also be a “Free Lunch” event so please plan to attend.   Make sure to RSVP  so we can plan accordingly.                      (RSVP to: cnisbet@sciworks.org)

  • It’s also time to begin preparing our annual chapter directory. This year we would like to begin expanding the directory to include additional information about member companies. Elizabeth Kersey our Chapter Administrator will be contacting you to obtain updated and additional information.

As I conclude my two years serving as Chapter President I would like to thank the current Chapter Board of Directors (listed below). MAY 2008 CHAPTER UPDATE

Greetings everyone!!   First of all I would like to send my thoughts and prayers out to any of you that were impacted by the recent tornados.    Hopefully this message will find you doing much better today than last Friday when the storm happened.

Next, I would like to thank Tracy Nash for putting together last month’s  vendor fair.  It was a great event and something we hope to do again next year.

Thanks Tracy!!!!

Also, thanks to Hap Giberson for putting together the great tour of the FedEx Airport Project last week.    It was a great behind the scenes look at everything that is happening at the airport.

Also, our next Program will be Thurs.  June 12 at Magnolia Manor.  There will be a presentation about Sudden Cardiac Arrest.  More details will be sent out to you in the near future.

Finally, I would like to encourage everyone to get more involved with the Chapter.   There are numerous committees and volunteer opportunities available.   Please contact me for more information at (336)727-5540 or brad.gwyn@tycoelectronics.com

·         The new Public Sector Committee will be holding their first meeting on March 27.   A presentation on “Performance Contracting” is planned.    I have attached a message from Randy Rogers chair of this committee with the details on the March 27 meeting.   Please note that for all members that are interested in attending you’ll need to RSVP Randy by 5pm on March 20. There will be no cost for the lunch.    The Board of Directors approved this to celebrate the first official meeting of this group.   Remember you must RSVP to Randy by the deadline so please do this now!!    Randy’s e-mail address is:  (RANDYR@cityofws.org

·         Our May meeting will be a tour of a local facility.   Details on this will be forthcoming soon.

·         Membership:    I would like to remind everyone to please spread the word about our chapter and the great value of membership.   I know there are numerous individuals in the facility management profession that work in our community but  are not a part of our chapter.  Why??   Let’s all try hard to get more people involved!!    If you know someone that might be interested and they need more information please tell them to contact our Membership Chair,       Joe Lineberger (linebergerjoseph@bellsouth.net)
