FACILITIES ENGINEERING, EH&S MANAGER - RHODE ISLAND

Our client is an established and well-known technology manufacturing entity.   The company is searching for a new Facilities Engineering, EH&S Manager to maintain facilities owned by the company in Rhode Island.  Reporting to the Director of Operations, this person will manage approximately ten employees in the areas of maintenance, project engineering, and safety.  He or she will be responsible for an annual operating budget of about $1.5MM and an annual capital budget of about $4MM.  Key objectives include maintaining state-of-art equipment and service contracts for clean room environments as well as managing all maintenance repairs.  This person will also have responsibility for managing audits, compliance, and regulatory affairs.  Specific duties include:

·         Maintain all buildings, support systems, and grounds for all RI buildings.  Support systems include heat/ventilation, electrical, plant cooling water, wastewater treatment, process gases, plant and process vacuum, boilers, compressed air, and building security.

·         Maintain and monitor clean room environments. 

·         Maintain environmental permits, including submittal of required operation and test reports to governing authorities, as required.  Manage hazardous waste activities, including maintenance of site storage locations and coordination of waste transportation to the treatment/disposal facility.

·         Manage facilities within environmental permits.

·         Develop and implement facilities optimization programs and long-range facilities development plans.

·         Provide engineering and start-up services to future expansion projects with emphasis on minimizing the impact to ongoing operations. Prepare, negotiate and execute capital projects.  

·         Provides direction to all other levels of management on the applicability of local safety and health regulations and corporate standards.  Recommends necessary courses of action to ensure compliance with said statutes.

·         Ensures that OSHA, Bureau of Labor statistics, and corporate guidelines regarding injury/illness recordkeeping are properly followed with the appropriate records maintained and communicated to government agencies, and other affected areas within the corporation.

·         Manage regulatory compliance requirements to maintain current and future certifications.   

·         Develop and implement energy conservation programs.

·         Manage budgets for department spending.  Develop and implement facilities cost reduction programs.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with 8+ years experience in facilities management and project engineering, including clean room environments.  A minimum of 5 years experience in the safety field or related manufacturing experience required.  Strong written, oral communication and management skills are critical.  The ability to communicate effectively across all levels of management is essential.

Special Skills helpful to success in this role include: 

 

Ø       Experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater and water treatment systems

Ø       Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes and systems

Ø       Knowledge of automated control systems and general instrumentation

Ø       Knowledge of AutoCAD software and the ability to read plans and technical specifications

Ø       Thorough and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the Federal and State OSHA laws.
