The Facility Management Professional Program
IFMA’s Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation is a knowledge-based credential demonstrating a proven comprehension of the basics of facility management. A springboard for obtaining the Certified Facility Manager
® (CFM®) certification, the FMP designation will help to accelerate an FM’s transition into the profession.The FMP requires the completion of four IFMA approved courses. These courses are designed to provide FMP candidates with the critical skills and knowledge needed to succeed in facility management.

Available through the Online Learning Center or through an instructor-led format, these courses are essential for anyone working as or with a facility manager. Once you have completed the four required courses, submit your application online at
www.ifma.org. FMPs are not required to earn maintenance points or recertify the designation.The Certified Facility Manager
® ProgramThe Certified Facility Manager
® (CFM®) credential sets the industry standard for ensuring knowledge and abilities of practicing facility managers. The certification process is designed to assess competence in the field through work experience, education and the ability to pass a comprehensive exam. Since the program began in 1992, more than 3100 facility managers from 32 countries have achieved this prestigious recognition.The certification process is described in detail at
www.ifma.org under FM Credentials. Recertification is required every three years. CFMs must demonstrate continued commitment to growth and excellence through practice, continuing education, and professional involvement.Learning Opportunities
The CFM Exam Review Course and core competency courses are offered periodically by IFMA. The schedule is on the IFMA web site. Our local chapter typically hosts study sessions for the Exam once per year.
